Getting to Breakneck Falls
The waterfall is located right below the Breakneck Bridge at the end of Cheeseman Road. To get to the waterfall from the Park’s Center (2697 McConnell’s Mill Road, Portersville, PA) take Kennedy Road downstream, passing over Kildoo Falls. Follow the road until it intersects with Cheeseman Road then turn right. Follow the road until you reach a small parking lot on the right side of the road. Park here and continue walking down the road until you reach the Breakneck Bridge. Turn right and walk away from the bridge. A sketchy but worn path descends into the creek valley briefly after you turn, to make it to the falls you’ll have to descend down this. Like I said before, this path isn’t for everyone. Once at the base of the ridge turn left, walking back towards the bridge. Now you should be able to see/hear the waterfall. Good luck and happy waterfall hunting!

Nearby waterfalls:

the 20-foot Kildoo Falls, the towering 60-foot Alpha Falls, and the wide and dependable Hell’s Hollow Falls are all also located in McConnell’s Mill State Park.

Far and away the most difficult waterfall to reach in McConnell’s Mill State Park, Breakneck Falls got its name because the waterfall is so slippery you have a good chance of breaking your neck if you try to scale it. I found this out the hard way when I wiped out on the waterfall’s middle tier. Luckily I escaped with just a few cuts and some soaked clothes, but I can imagine other people haven’t been so lucky. The waterfall is composed of three distinct tiers, with the top tier being the largest and most impressive at about 12 feet tall. Reaching the base of this waterfall requires a rather dangerous descent, so don’t attempt to reach these falls unless you’re quite confident in your scrambling abilities.
